Strongly impacted by the covid-19, Shanghai, the most international modern city in China, has been locked down for over than TWO months. It’s been an extremely tough time for Shanghai business companies, especially export ones, which had suffered a great test and challenge like never before. 

Shanghai port, one of the world-famous international trade ports, the largest port in China, was badly affected as people are forced to stay home due to the lockdown, the congested Shanghai terminals cutoff the window for export, which means we cannot export our shipping containers and container parts from Shanghai port. 

As a witness to the historic time, fully participating in the whole process, we are glad to share a story with you.

One of our new customers placed an order, which was 6 brand new shipping containers fully loaded with container parts, including shipping container floor, Container Locking Device, container corner casting, Twist Lock, and so on.

Our customer demanded to ship the containers and container parts from Ningbo. However, the shipping company appointed by the customer only had one vessel per month from Ningbo, China. However, the terminal could change or lockdown at any time due to epidemic and congestion. It couldn’t be more severe under the situation. 

We booked the shipping space in mid-May. However, all of our staffs and factories were still in lockdown and no exact time for lifting at that time, which means all the shipping containers and container parts produced in Shanghai factory cannot be transported from Shanghai to Ningbo. As the date of shipment became nearer and nearer, we really were in a dilemma.

After coordinated with our factory constantly, they finally succeeded to arrange shipping containers in this order to be shipped to the port. We shipped these new shipping containers by sea to Ningbo, and this was the only way at that moment. For the other container parts, we were still trying to coordinate.

For the container floor, the factory outside Shanghai could transport all the container floor to Ningbo directly by road. But we were still facing another big problem that other container parts other than container floor, were still not allowed to transport. Because the warehouse was in Shanghai. We had no way but to arrange factories outside Shanghai to delivery cargos again to Ningbo directly. 

Finally and fortunately, all the 6 new shipping containers and all container parts went aboard successfully. Although the process was really tough, luckily, we got a good result.

There is another story during the lockdown in Shanghai I want to share with you.

FCL shipping container floor is one of the most popular products for many customers. Generally speaking, for 1X20’GP, after loading 268pcs container floor 28x1160x2400, there is some space left at the door. So, we usually suggest customers that it would be a choice if they consider to add some other container parts to ship together with container floor, such as container corner casting, Container Locking Device…... which could greatly save the unit transportation cost. 

One customer of us prefers to purchase container corner casting to be shipped together with FCL container floor. The customer placed several orders including container floor and container corner casting before Shanghai lockdown. Under normal circumstances, we transport the container floor and container corner casting to Shanghai and arrange shipment from Shanghai. But at that moment, the transportation was restricted. All cargos cannot be transported into Shanghai, and we cannot export our container floor and container parts from Shanghai port.

So we turned to put our focus on other ports. Qingdao port is a good choice! It is also one of the famous international trade ports. 

Our container floor and container corner casting can be delivered to Qingdao. Although Shanghai was under lockdown, the delivery time of container floor and container corner casting has not been affected at all, and we can ship them directly from Qingdao. The delivery time is even a litter faster than from Shanghai. This is really good news for us!

Qingdao Port

This change has opened up new ideas for us! In the future, for fully loaded container floor, we can arrange shipment from Qingdao or other ports outside Shanghai directly, such as Zhangjiagang and Xiamen, the cost is much lower and the delivery time is much shorter. We strive to provide the best service to our customers at all times.

We couldn’t be more glad to hear that Shanghai, as well as our factories and warehouse, are gradually returning to normal due to the joint efforts and dynamic zero-COVID policy.
