Guidelines for Efficient Container
Loading Ensuring Safe and Accurate Shipments
Introduction
When exporting goods, businesses
often face concerns such as incorrect data, damages, and discrepancies between
shipping data and customs declarations during the container loading process. To
avoid these issues, it is essential for shippers, warehouses, and freight
forwarders to coordinate meticulously before loading containers.
I. Considerations for Container Loading
1.Avoid mixing goods with different shapes and packaging whenever possible.
2.Goods that might leak dust, liquid, moisture, or odor should be segregated from other items. If necessary, use canvas, plastic film, or other materials to separate them.Place lightweight items on top of heavier ones.
3.Weakly packaged items should be placed above strongly packaged items.
4.Liquid and clean goods should be positioned below other items to prevent spillage.
5.Goods with sharp corners or protruding parts should be covered to prevent damage to other items.
II. Techniques for Container Loading
correct container loading
1.There are three common methods for loading container goods manual loading, using forklifts (or loaders) to transfer goods into the container, then manual stacking, and fully mechanical loading, such as using pallets and forklifts to stack goods inside the container.
2.Ensure that the total weight of the goods loaded in the container does not exceed the maximum loading capacity, which is the container's total weight minus its tare weight. Typically, this information is displayed on the container door.
3.Each container has a specific unit weight capacity, allowing you to determine whether the goods are heavy or light based on their density.
4.Balance the load on the container
bottom to avoid uneven weight distribution.
Avoid creating concentrated loads. For heavy items like machinery, use cushioning materials like wooden boards to distribute the load.
5.When using manual labor, pay attention to markings like this side up and follow loading and unloading instructions. Use appropriate loading tools and avoid using hooks on bundled goods.
6.When loading palletized goods, accurately know the container's interior dimensions and the external dimensions of the packaged goods to calculate the number of items loaded, minimizing unused space.
7.When using forklifts, be mindful of the machine's lifting height and gantry height limitations. If possible, stack goods in two layers with gaps in between. Additionally, use wooden supports under the goods for easy forklift access.
8.Maintain a dry, ventilated, and clean environment inside the container. Install partitions in dense cargo areas to prevent moisture accumulation.
9.Ensure the container doors are securely fastened and have good sealing performance to prevent deformation due to stacked goods.
10.Avoid overloading or loading concentrated heavy items. Adhere to prescribed loading routes and methods to ensure safe transportation.
In summary, it is recommended to avoid loading goods directly into containers without proper packaging. Even large items such as boilers and building materials should be tied securely to prevent them from loosening during transportation. By following these guidelines, businesses can optimize their container loading processes and ensure the safety and accuracy of shipments.
