400 Semi-Trailers Delivered to the Philippines in One Month, Winning Client Praise
In the field of equipment supply and logistics support, short-cycle, large-scale delivery tasks test an enterprise’s ability to control the entire supply chain. Recently, CIMC Equilink successfully completed the project of delivering 400 semi-trailers to a Philippine client. From winning the global tender to fulfilling the contract during the Spring Festival, we fully met the client’s needs with customized services and efficient execution.
I. Project Background and Client Needs
Due to the commissioning of two new ships, the client required supporting semi-trailers to ensure smooth logistics connectivity, specifying a procurement demand of "200 units for each ship, 400 units in total" with full delivery within one month. To select a supplier, the client launched a global tender, which attracted 15 participating enterprises. After a multi-round rigorous selection process of "10 to 5, 5 to 3, and finally 3 to 1", CIMC Equilink won the bid.
In addition, based on actual usage scenarios, the client put forward core requirements: the semi-trailers needed to enter Philippine ports, where ports charge fees based on the total cubic meters of "semi-trailer + shipping container" — the smaller the cubic meter volume, the lower the cost. At the same time, the client required that the semi-trailers should not collide with their undercarriages when being loaded onto ships, and have good passability. They hoped to optimize the semi-trailer height to the maximum extent to save port costs.
The client said "We need the flatbed height exactly same as the skeleton version. It seems our pier has a weird fee where we pay for every trailer entry based on CBM of trailer. so lower chassis has advantage, but not so low because it has to climb the ship ramp".
II. Project Initiation and Planning Process
The project advancement coincided with China’s Spring Festival, a period when it was difficult for workers to return to work and logistics resources were in short supply — posing dual challenges to the factory’s production organization and raw material supply. From the moment the client placed the order, CIMC Equilink coordinated all links of the entire chain, including raw material supply, production preparation, production scheduling, shipping delivery, and logistics transportation, and made advance arrangements to ensure the delivery schedule.
To address the core demand of "height optimization", the company arranged factory technicians to conduct on-site surveys. Combining the client’s usage scenarios with the professional design of semi-trailer factory engineers, we customized exclusive adaptive semi-trailer models for the client — these models not only met the port’s cubic meter charging standards but also ensured the safety of loading/unloading onto/from ships and smooth passage. Technological advantages became a key support for the project’s advancement.
III. Key Actions and Challenge Responses During Execution
During the delivery phase, the project faced multiple challenges from weather, road conditions, and the Spring Festival, and CIMC Equilink formulated targeted solutions one by one:
Extreme weather response: An extreme snowstorm paralyzed all transportation. The factory urgently organized the logistics team to adjust the transportation route to avoid delivery delays.
Labor shortage resolution: During the Spring Festival, after the transportation department delivered the first batch of semi-trailers to Lianyungang Port, the next batch faced a shortage of personnel. The factory immediately arranged staff to drive to Lianyungang to pick up the drivers, ensuring the timely deployment of transportation personnel.
IV. Delivery and Acceptance Details
Considering that the semi-trailers were packaged in stacks of three, to facilitate the client’s acceptance operation, the factory filmed the entire process of unpacking and unloading the semi-trailers after they arrived at the port in advance for the client’s reference. Meanwhile, two after-sales service personnel were sent to the site to assist the client in completing the hoisting and unloading operations throughout the process, ensuring a smooth and efficient acceptance process.
V. Project Outcomes and Client Feedback
This project set a record for the largest single procurement of semi-trailers in the history of the Philippine
semi-trailer sector (400 units). According to the client’s feedback, the customized semi-trailer models perfectly matched their needs in all scenarios, including port entry and loading/unloading onto/from ships.
The client highly praised us, stating, "the trailers delivered last year have perfect height and specs". They clearly noted that the semi-trailer models not only helped them save port costs but also significantly improved the convenience of loading/unloading onto/from ships, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation. Recently, the client has further expressed the intention to place a follow-up order, planning to purchase another 100 semi-trailers.
